Headed Out West!

tocolorado.gifWell, I’m extremely happy to say that I’ve accepted a position in Denver & we’ll be relocating there at the end of the month!! I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity & look forward to oodles of new experiences & adventures in an entirely new ecosystem. :)

Designer / Illustrator for HIRE

willwork.gifOh yes, it’s true. These past couple of years have been the biggest creative growth spurt for me, hence why I’m seeking full time work to keep the juices flowing. Ideally I want to work in an inspiring environment, expanding my portfolio to a more mature audience, doing print design, packaging, branding, illustration… or anything creative, really.

My husband & I are also looking to relocate to a place to settle down, so we’re searching the west coast through the midwest, Colorado & SoCal being at the top of our list.

Thanks in advance for any leads or thoughts of encouragement!

My Sweet Ravioli, 2004-2008

rav.gifDearest Ravioli,

I just want you to know you were the best dog in the whole world & I am going to miss every little beautiful thing about you. You gave me so much happiness while you were here. I hope you felt the same from me.

With infinite love,
Mommy

Opening Night

openingnight.gifWondering about how the show went?

[Click here for pictures of setting up & opening night.]

I’m sitting here with a spoonful of delicious peanut butter, reflecting on last weekend’s big success, pondering all the things I learned from the experience. It’s taken nearly a week for it all to sink in.

It was both fun & nerve-wracking. There was tons of energy in the room. Practically everyone I know in Chicago showed up, including a few surprise faces. The artists were all in good spirits, the work was incredibly diverse & amazing. There were a few awkward moments, but all in all, the night inspired me.

Paul’s photo montages were thoughtful & engaging. Reilly’s inks were adorably clever. Rudy’s detailed drawings were out-of-this-world awesome. Angela’s photos presented beautiful color & depth. Chase’s interactive piece was ridiculously smart, as always. Javier, whom I didn’t get to meet, contributed work with a strong & impactful message. And Ray’s digital illustrations were a color-factory of awesomeness.

Seeing my own work on the wall was more difficult than I anticipated. Because I’m mostly familiar with online interaction & critiquing, this face-to-face business was terrifying.  I avoided that part of the room for most of the night but couldn’t dodge most of the commentary, which was generally pretty positive. Now, a week later, I realize how silly it was to be so unsure of myself. I learned a lot of things. I was able to see how my work needs development. I honestly can’t wait to see how I will mature as a painter.

It’s always been a dream of mine to show work in a gallery. Thank you to everyone who made it possible!

LIV Updates!

hearts1.gifWell, here we go. LIV version 5 is finally up, fresh for 2008! Easy to navigate, update, blog, and all that good webbish stuff. A PLAY section has been added, too, for some of the little things I do in my spare time, namely Type Friday exercises.

There are new wallpapers in the download section, not to mention our good old friend, the Gradient Mesh tutorial that I wrote up a few years ago for your learning pleasure. New resume, new work, new bio… OK, OK - new everything!

Also, don’t forget the show is on Saturday (1/12/07) featuring my very first paintings, along with a handful of other amazing artists. (I’m so excited!) If you’re in Chicago this weekend, check it out.

Special thanks to my stupendous husband for taking the time to critique & build my site. He’s the best & he inspires me more than anyone ever has.

OK, folks. Have fun!

New Painting!

paint1.gifYes, I’ve been delving into the fine art world lately. Lots of new creative acrylic stuff on the horizon. 4 pieces to be exact. All to be displayed here. This is a first for me so wish me luck!

Special thanks to Chase McClure for organizing the event. He done good.

New Type Friday

xmas.gifEvery week(-ish) is something new. Here’s my latest entry for Type Friday entitled “YAY for the Month of Christmas”. Thanks again to Eric Shoemaker for this weekly opportunity.
